Information We Collect
Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and display name. We do not receive or store passwords for social sign-in providers.
Location Data: We collect your country, region, and city (coarse location only) to provide region-specific breed cost estimates, availability, and climate-based recommendations. We do not track your precise GPS coordinates continuously. Location is captured once during setup and only updated when you manually change it.
Questionnaire Responses: Your answers about lifestyle, family, budget, and preferences are stored securely to generate personalized breed recommendations.
Subscription Data: We store your subscription status (free or premium) to manage access to premium features. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not see or store your payment information.
Analytics: We collect anonymous usage events such as questionnaire completion, breed views, and feature usage to improve the app. These events are not used for advertising.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide breed recommendations, cost estimates, and app functionality. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (cloud database) with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS.

Children's Privacy
WhichPuppy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) and that you accept these terms in full.
Description of Service
WhichPuppy is a dog breed recommendation app that uses your responses to a lifestyle questionnaire to suggest dog breeds that may suit your situation. The app also provides breed information, cost estimates, breeder evaluation guidance, and preparation checklists.
Recommendations Are Informational Only
Breed recommendations, cost estimates, and any guidance provided in the app are for informational purposes only. They are not professional advice and should not replace consultation with veterinarians, certified dog trainers, ethical breeders, or other animal care professionals.
You acknowledge that choosing a dog is a serious decision involving many factors beyond what an app can fully assess. Always do your own research and consult professionals before adopting or purchasing a dog.
Subscriptions & Payments
WhichPuppy offers premium features through auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through the App Store. Subscription details:
- Monthly subscription: billed every month at the current price displayed in the app
- Yearly subscription: billed every 12 months at the current price displayed in the app
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings
- Refunds are handled by Apple per their App Store refund policy
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the app
- Use automated systems or scripts to access the app
- Share your account credentials with others
- Misuse the app to harm animals or facilitate unethical breeding
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support.
Intellectual Property
All content in the app, including breed information, recommendations, design, and code, is the intellectual property of WhichPuppy and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that recommendations will be perfectly accurate for your situation.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WhichPuppy and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to decisions made about choosing, purchasing, or caring for a dog.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of India.
AI Disclaimer

WhichPuppy uses artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance certain features of the app. This disclosure explains what AI does, what it does not do, and how you should interpret AI-generated content.
How We Use AI
WhichPuppy uses AI (specifically OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model) to generate certain premium content, including:
- Personalized explanations of breed compatibility dimensions
- Reality-check insights about owning specific breeds
- Daily routine previews for puppy and adult life stages
- Common mistakes new owners make with specific breeds
What AI Does NOT Do
The core breed recommendations, compatibility scores, and cost estimates are NOT generated by AI. They are calculated using deterministic algorithms based on:
- Curated breed attribute data from authoritative sources
- Manually researched regional cost data for 8 countries
- A scoring algorithm based on your questionnaire responses
Limitations of AI Content
AI-generated content has inherent limitations you should be aware of:
- Not always accurate: AI can produce information that sounds confident but may be incorrect, outdated, or generalized
- Not professional advice: AI explanations are NOT a substitute for advice from veterinarians, certified trainers, ethical breeders, or animal behaviorists
- Generalized: AI insights are based on breed averages and may not apply to your specific dog's individual personality or needs
- Subject to change: AI models and outputs may change over time as the underlying technology evolves
Data Sent to AI Services
When you use AI-powered features, anonymized portions of your questionnaire data and the breed information may be sent to OpenAI to generate the personalized content. We do NOT send your name, email, or any directly identifying information. OpenAI's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.
Your Responsibility
You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content is for informational purposes only
- You will not rely solely on AI insights when making decisions about acquiring or caring for a dog
- You will consult with qualified professionals (veterinarians, breeders, trainers) for specific advice
- WhichPuppy and its creators are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated content
Reporting Issues
If you encounter AI-generated content that is factually incorrect, harmful, or inappropriate, please report it to us at support@thpuppyhq.com. We take these reports seriously and use them to improve the app.

Account & Sign-In Issues: If you can't sign in or need to delete your account, email us with your sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email) and we'll help you out.
Subscription Questions: Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel or change your subscription, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone. For refund requests, contact Apple Support directly.
